“Re-examine all that you've been told. Reject that which insults your soul.”
-Walt Whitman
From the time I was little I had digestive issues. I grew up in the Midwest in the 80’s and alternative healthcare did not exist, at least not in my world. I went to doctor after doctor with no help outside of prescription drugs. No mention of food or diet. Finally, when I was 23 I moved to Montana and was advised to see a naturopath. I didn’t know what that was, but at that point I was willing to do anything. I was taking 36 pills of a sulfa based drug EVERY DAY and was still in excruciating pain. She (the ND) told me that in 6 months I would feel good and in a year I would feel great. She was right. And what did she do differently that no other doctor had? She asked me what I ate. It was that simple. She put me on a diet that was right for me and gave me various herbs to help nourish my immune system which was incredibly depleted from the sulfa based drugs. I did not have any symptoms for 15 years. So, when I hear that it is not possible to heal from digestive issues like Crohn’s, I cringe. It is possible.
When I did have a flare up due to stress, I started taking Gastrex from Standard Process and I have been fine since. See more about Standard Process…
After graduating from college, I spent the next ten years working with women’s issues, primarily domestic violence and sexual assault.
In 2001 I finished massage school in Maui.
I’ve been told that I give a very intuitive massage that gets to the core of problem spots. My goal is to work tissues cautiously while maintaining an aggressive edge.
